How to use witch symbols

Every mark here is a plain Unicode character, so it pastes into a bio, a username, a caption or a document the same way a letter does. Most of them are older than the aesthetic they now belong to: ☿ ♄ ♆ are the astronomical signs for Mercury, Saturn and Neptune, 🜁 🜂 🜃 🜄 are the alchemical elements for air, fire, water and earth, and ☤ ⚚ are the caduceus and the staff of Hermes, borrowed by everything from medicine to esoterica. They read as occult because of where they ended up, not where they came from.

The pentagram comes in four forms — ⛤ plain, ⛥ and ⛦ interlaced, ⛧ inverted — and they are separate characters, not rotations of one. Worth picking deliberately: the inverted one carries meaning that the upright one does not, and platforms occasionally treat it differently in usernames.

For Halloween the useful ones are ☠ ⚰ ⚱ ⛼ — skull, coffin, urn and headstone. They work all year in a goth or witchy bio and get their moment in October. If a symbol shows as an empty box, your device has no font covering it; the alchemical ones are the least supported, and anything your device cannot draw is hidden from this page automatically.

Questions

What do these witch symbols actually mean?

Most are borrowed rather than invented. ☽ ☾ are the quarter moons, ☿ ♄ ♆ the planets, 🜁 🜂 🜃 🜄 the four alchemical elements, ⚚ the staff of Hermes. The pentagram ⛤ predates every modern association it carries. They are used decoratively far more often than ritually, and nothing about pasting one commits you to anything.

Do these work in a TikTok or Instagram bio?

Yes — they are standard Unicode text, not images, so bios, usernames, captions and Discord nicknames accept them. Some platforms restrict the inverted pentagram ⛧ in usernames specifically; if a name is rejected, that is usually the character to swap first.

Can I use these for Halloween posts?

That is what ☠ ⚰ ⚱ ⛼ are for — skull and crossbones, coffin, funeral urn and headstone. Unlike the orange pumpkin emoji they stay monochrome, so they sit in a caption without shouting, and they do not look out of place in November either.

Why do some of them show as empty boxes?

The alchemical symbols 🜁 🜂 🜃 🜄 live in a high Unicode range that many fonts skip, so older phones draw a placeholder instead. This page hides anything your own device cannot render — if you can see it here, it will paste correctly for you, though someone on an older device may still see a box.
