A sweaty Fortnite name is short and built from parts: a word from the game’s slang — cracked, clutch, box fight, piece control, 90s — and a mark that looks like a letter from another alphabet, most often the Japanese ツ, the 乂 or the Greek Ψ, which players call the trident and which became a trend of its own. Epic’s rules are short: a display name must be 3 to 16 characters long, and it may not contain vulgarity or hate speech, personal information, or direct references to any Epic Games employee, product, service or character — which is why no name here borrows a skin, a weapon or the game’s own name. A name that breaks the rules may be reset to a random one later. Epic publishes no list of allowed symbols, and whether a symbol shows up depends on the font the game draws names with, so every name here sticks to common marks, has no emoji and no spaces, and fits the 16 characters. If a symbol turns into a box, take another one or a name from the group without symbols.
You change your display name on the Epic Games website, not in the game: open your account settings, edit the display name and confirm.
