How to use MLBB names

A typical MLBB name is built from parts: a kanji tag, a bar or a dot, the name in small caps and often ツ or 々 at the end, like 暗|ᴅᴀʀᴋ. Here are the pieces: the Japanese-style marks 乂 々 〆 ツ, frames such as ꧁ ꧂ and ༺ ༻, eighteen kanji tags — 暗 is dark, 魂 soul, 龍 dragon, 覇 rule by might — and ready-made names from words the game itself uses: Savage, Maniac, Lord, Retri, Jungler. For Free Fire names and darker marks, see skull symbols.

Moonton publishes no list of allowed symbols. Players report that the rename box takes about 4 to 20 characters, and some articles say up to 16. Symbols weigh more than letters, too: in squad names the game counts a Chinese, Japanese or Korean character as three “spaces”, and players say fancy letters count extra in player names. So every ready-made name here is 16 bytes or less — a plain letter is one byte; a kanji, ツ or ♡ is three — with no emoji and no “mathematical” letters like 𝓐. If a name is still refused, drop one symbol and try again.

The first rename is free; after that it takes a Rename Card from the shop, and a seasonal First Recharge offer sells one for 50 diamonds after you top up on three different days. For an invisible name, players use the Hangul filler ㅤ, which draws nothing; the last group copies four of them, since players report the box wants at least four characters. Moonton says nothing about this, and the name may already be taken. For your own word, the fancy text generator works too, but its “mathematical” styles like 𝓐 cost four bytes a letter — four letters fill 16. Fan-made, not affiliated with Moonton.

Questions

How long can an MLBB name be?

Players report about 4 to 20 characters, and some articles say up to 16. Symbols weigh more than letters: in squad names and their abbreviations the game counts a Chinese, Japanese or Korean character as three “spaces”, and players say fancy letters count extra in player names. Every ready-made name here is 16 bytes or less; if yours is refused, drop the frame on one side — 乂Savage instead of 乂Savage乂.

Why does Mobile Legends say “illegal characters”?

The rename box refuses some symbols, and Moonton does not say which. Players report that small caps and kanji tags pass most often and that the filter has grown stricter over time; Latin letters and digits are allowed. Remove symbols one at a time until the name is accepted. This page has no colour emoji: sources disagree on whether the game takes them, and most cost four bytes or more.

How do I change my name in Mobile Legends?

Open your profile from the avatar at the top left, tap your name, paste the new one and confirm. The first change is free; after that it takes a Rename Card, sold in the shop for diamonds. A seasonal First Recharge offer also sells a 7-day Rename Card for 50 diamonds after you top up on three different days.

Can I make an invisible name?

Players use the Hangul filler ㅤ (U+3164), a character that draws nothing; TikTok and YouTube tutorials from 2025 and 2026 show it, while Moonton says nothing either way. Copy the cell with four fillers from the last group, since players report the box wants at least four characters. If the name is taken or refused, add one letter.
