How to use wing symbols
There is no Unicode character that is simply a wing, so wing symbols are borrowed shapes. 𓆩 and 𓆪 are Egyptian hieroglyphs that look like a pair of spread wings; ꧁ and ꧂ are ornaments from the Javanese script; ༺ and ༻ are Tibetan marks; and ʚ ɞ, two letters of the phonetic alphabet, are the classic butterfly wings. In angel kaomoji like ଘ(੭ˊᵕˋ)੭ the wing is ଘ, a letter of the Odia alphabet.
Most people use them as a frame: copy a pair, paste it and type the name between the halves — 𓆩 Mia 𓆪 or ꧁ Mia ꧂. That works in TikTok and Instagram display names, Discord nicknames and bios. The hieroglyph and Javanese wings are rare characters, so an older phone may show boxes; ʚ ɞ and ༺ ༻ work almost everywhere. The emoji row 🪽 🕊️ 🦋 comes out in colour.
Questions
What symbol looks like wings?
The pair most people mean is 𓆩 𓆪 — two Egyptian hieroglyphs that sit on either side of a word like spread wings. ꧁ ꧂ and ༺ ༻ are fancier wing-like ornaments, and ʚ ɞ are butterfly wings. There is also a wing emoji, 🪽, but it is a colour picture rather than a text character.
How do I put wings around my name?
Copy a frame such as 𓆩♡𓆪 or ꧁ ꧂, paste it and type your name between the two halves: 𓆩 Mia 𓆪. Where a name has a short limit, keep to one pair — every wing is a character that counts toward the limit.
Why do the wings show as boxes on some phones?
The hieroglyph wings 𓆩 𓆪 and the Javanese ꧁ ꧂ need fonts that some older phones do not have, so they draw as empty boxes there. Anything your own device cannot draw is hidden from this page; for a name that has to look right everywhere, ʚ ɞ and ༺ ༻ are the safest wings.
